The idea behind the images that I create is to communicate through the visual medium of photography the essence of a specific place, of an element of nature or civilization, or the moment in life.

I attempt in my photographic work to capture with the camera the emotional and intelectual experience of things, rather than just try to depict them attractively in only two dimensions. The grace and the energy or perhaps the humanlike expression of an animal, the ordered geometry of architecture, the intrinsic chaos and the heartbeat of the great city, the freedom and enchantment of the open road or backcountry trail, the melancholy of the heartland landscape or the rusty old car, the optimism of spring or the dream of love blossoming in the beauty of a flower...

My images are available as stock photography and fine art prints. They have been purchased by art photography collectors from all over the world, used by National Geographic, Backpacker, Organic Gardening, Launch Creative Marketing, Museums and Galleries Marketing Ltd, Land Trust Alliance, Penguin Group Publishers, The Times, Pace Communications and countless other publishing and advertising companies.
I live in Chicago, Illinois and I am often available for assignment work.
In my work I use exclusively Canon professional digital SLR cameras and lenses.
